AI WORKFLOW AUTOMATION CONSULTING

Start with the work.
Then decide what to automate.

Your team moves a request through five systems. The hard part is deciding what should happen between them.

MetricOwl redesigns that process, connects the context and builds the Data + AI workflow to run it—with a named owner and an outcome to measure.

See the operating model ↓
THE OPERATING MODEL / ONE CASE, END TO END
  1. 01Input

    A request, payment or document

  2. 02Context

    Records, history and current policy

  3. 03Decision

    Rules, interpretation and approval

  4. 04Action

    A controlled system update

  5. 05Measurement

    Quality, time and cost

Every step carries a case ID, a state and the evidence needed by the next step.

01 / THE SERVICE

Automate a process, not a collection of clicks.

AI workflow automation combines deterministic software, AI interpretation and human decisions inside a defined business process. A useful implementation moves work from an incoming event to a verified outcome. It also explains what happens when it cannot proceed.

We start by following actual cases through the people who handle them. Where is context copied? Which approval is real, and which exists because nobody trusts the data? Which exception needs judgment, and which just needs a missing field?

The result may include fewer steps before it includes any AI. Our consulting and implementation work covers the process map, data contracts, integrations, decision controls, evaluation cases, production release and operational handover.

02 / DECISION OWNERSHIP

Three actors. Different authority.

01 / RULES

Known conditions.

Validate identifiers, amounts, permissions and approved thresholds. The same facts should produce the same decision.

02 / AI

Interpret the evidence.

Read a document, classify an explanation or propose a match. Keep its source and uncertainty with the proposal.

03 / PEOPLE

Own the consequence.

Resolve ambiguity, approve sensitive actions and change policy. A model’s confidence does not grant authority.

Consider a customer asking to change an order. Software can check identity and order status. AI can interpret the request and locate the relevant policy. An authorized person may still need to approve a refund outside that policy. The final action must validate the current order state again before writing.

03 / WHAT WE BUILD

The seams are part of the system.

A shared case record
Stable identifiers, source references, status, owner and a history of decisions. A summary alone is not a source of truth.
A bounded decision path
Explicit input checks, approved actions and stop conditions. Missing context becomes an assigned exception rather than a model’s invitation to guess.
Recoverable integrations
Controlled access to your CRM, ERP, databases and queues. A timeout after a write must not cause a duplicate action when retried.
A release and runbook
Representative tests, shadow execution where appropriate, limited rollout, monitoring, rollback and a named operational owner.

Where an existing product already solves the problem, we assess configuration and integration before proposing custom software. Tool selection follows the process requirements.

04 / ACCEPTANCE

Define better before building it.

Agree the unit of work first: a reconciled payment, a resolved case or a completed onboarding. Then define what “correct” means, including the cases the system must decline.

  • Quality: correct outcomes, false actions and rework, segmented by case type.
  • Flow: active handling time, queue time and end-to-end completion time.
  • Economics: human effort plus software, model and support costs per completed case.
  • Control: approval compliance, evidence completeness and recoverable failures.

Compare the same workload before and after release. A faster average can hide slower difficult cases. A high automation rate can hide expensive mistakes.

05 / FIT & DELIVERY

One workflow is enough to start.

A strong starting point has recurring volume, expensive manual handling, accessible systems and a person accountable for the outcome. Bring a few representative cases, the current handoffs and an estimate of monthly effort. Keep sensitive records out of the initial inquiry.

We scope a bounded transformation sprint: understand and baseline; redesign; build and evaluate; deploy and measure. A typical 4–8 week range depends on access, complexity and approvals. Deliverables, acceptance and support are agreed before work begins.

If the process changes every week, the volume is tiny or the rules have no owner, automation may be premature. Clarifying the operating process can be the right first engagement.

START WITH ONE

Bring us a workflow.

Tell us where the work gets stuck, which systems are involved and who owns the outcome.

We’ll review your request and contact you by email. If there’s a fit, we agree scope, success criteria and fees before paid work begins.

At least 20 characters is enough to get started. Please don’t include confidential or customer data.
